Details About this Student's College Dining Experience
Does your college handle food restrictions as you expected when you decided to attend?
Mostly not what I expected
Have you had a reation from eating in your dining hall?
YES
If Yes, describe each incident and how your school responded
I threw up several times. I asked about the fries because they were marked gf but made me sick. Chef told me they would put in a dedicated fryer over break, but they didnt. Now they are not marked gf.
Did you register your food restriction with the disabilities office? If yes, describe
No
Are there resources to help with nutritious, safe dining (e.g. dietician)? If yes, describe
No
If you were in charge of dining, what would you change? Would your school be open to suggestions?
I would consistently mark gf products and have separate peanut butter/butter containers. I would supply more protein dense products in the gf fridge. They are open to these things but have not followed up when I've asked.
Describe your biggest challenge managing your food restrictions at college and how you deal with it
I have difficulty getting enough calories from the dining hall. I usually just buy food for my room to supplement.

15 meals per week, same, same, and 5 meals per week. Meal plan required for students who live on campus
Dorms:
Any advice for eating in the dorms? Favorite snacks? Places that deliver?
Yogurt, cheese, nuts, nutrition bars, protein shakes, pasta, sandwich bread
Getting Started:
What should students do before school starts or when they first arrive?
Register with the Office of Disabilities
Socializing:
Advice on managing parties or dinners out with friends?
Didn't experience this. I would say dont drink it if you didn't see it being poured from the bottle.
Other:
Any other advice or comments?
Not enough people know or understand the disorder and its severity. But also that it is super easy to modify current recipes to make them gf without sacraficing taste or whatever they think.
